API 5L specification covers seamless, black, plain-end steel pipe for use in the conveyance of fluids under pressure. API 5L Line Pipe in sizes NPS 1 to 26, inclusive, as given in ASME B36.10M is included. API 5L Steel Pipe having other dimensions, in this size range, may be furnished provided such pipe complies with all other requirements of this specification.This API 5L international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards.API 5L Pipe undergo tension test and conform to tensile properties such as tensile strength and yield strength. API 5L Seamless Line Pipe Hydrostatic pressure test also performed for steel samples with specified wall thickness and test pressure.
